About Beryl Clarkson - Prayer Leader
I became a Christian in 1982. My first encounter with prayer was through the Catholic Church and school I attended. I started praying at an early age of 5, often by my bedside on my own before I went to sleep. So this was a start to a journey of faith.
I left the Catholic Church when I got married to my husband in 1965 in a Methodist Church, I didn’t go to any church after this, till I had my children, after they started attending a Methodist school. I wanted to take them to church so they to could start to learn about God, because I had never looked at a bible before I wondered what the Methodists taught.
Some friends who had become born again told me, that faith in Jesus is more than going to church; I had to have a personal relationship with him. This made things more challenging for me because I thought I was OK just going to church believing in Jesus and when I died I would go to heaven, they would tell more, how to have fellowship with God and the way to heaven.
After someone gave me a journey into life booklet, to help me understand more, I took a deeper step of faith, and asked Jesus to forgive all my sins and be more real to me. Still not knowing very much about God I made up my mind to go to bible study to learn what it meant to be a follower of Christ Jesus.
Well I have been a Christian for 29 years, still learning, but knowing God as my Father, Jesus as my saviour and the blessing of the Holy Spirit with me every day, I now know what a wonderful God we have, that cares for us all every person in this world.
My journey is still not over, I want to share my faith with others, who find faith in God difficult, because I understand that having to take steps to learn is hard, but by faith this can happen to you too.
Thank you for reading about my journey with Jesus.
